จฟฟ์ บริดเจส (The Big Lebowski, True Grit) และ ไรอัน เรย์โนลด์ส (Safe House, The Proposal) นำขบวนในภาพยนตร์แอ็กชั่น ผจญภัยเหนือธรรมชาติสามมิติ เรื่อง R.I.P.D. เมื่อสองตำรวจได้รับมอบหมายงานจากหน่วยสยบพิฆาตวิญญาณ ให้มาปกป้องและรับใช้คนเป็น ให้พ้นจากเหล่าปีศาจที่ก่อความเสียหาย และปฏิเสธที่จะไปใช้ชีวิตหลังความตายอย่างสุขสงบ
นายอำเภอมือฉมัง รอย พัลไซเฟอร์ (บริดเจส) ทำงานให้กับหน่วยงานตำรวจที่เป็นตำนานซึ่งรู้จักกันในชื่อ อาร์ไอพีดี (R.I.P.D.) เพื่อตามแกะรอยวิญญาณร้ายที่แฝงตัวอยู่ในหมู่คนเป็นเหมือนเป็นคนธรรมดาๆ ภารกิจของเขาน่ะเหรอ? ก็เพื่อตามจับและนำความยุติธรรมไปลงทัณฑ์พวกนอกกฎหมายที่พยายามหลบหนีคำพิพากษาสุดท้าย ด้วยการไปแอบซ่อนตัวอยู่ในหมู่มนุษย์โลกที่ไม่รู้อิโหน่อิเหน่
